Facing gray

Grey Woods

Hi there, it's Sam. You know, some people live in a black and white world. They have the gift of seeing morally what others can't. Or maybe they just enjoy clearing a desk, so to speak, where making decisions feels like filing and closure and accomplishment.

Others inhabit a gray world. Maybe these folks have a different gift of seeing, or else they simply fear commitment.

Motivations for moral citizenship aside, I've never met anyone who lives exclusively in one world or the other. I know stump-preaching, high-horse riding fireballs with cooler spots, as well as over-analyzing fence-walkers who jump down occasionally.

Where are you? High Calling Blogger, Billy Coffey, will test your answer. At least, he did mine. Billy's captivating story about his daughter and science raises good questions about hard decisions in a post called, In a Gray World.

I'm sitting in bed on a Tuesday night that has just become a Wednesday morning, watching reruns of M*A*S*H while sipping a strong cup of coffee. My family is tucked safely into the arms of slumber, but there will be little if any sleep for me tonight.
