Some HighCalling Bloggers Started Their Own Magazine
Hey everyone. Marcus here! It's been an exciting week... and it's only Tuesday.
Sam wrapped up our study of The Gift with a personal letter from Lewis Hyde himself. I'm still a bit shocked by that. If you missed out on that series, Sam did an excellent job, and Lewis Hyde's letter is the epitome of gratitude and gentility. I really encourage you to go read that.
So. Maybe you noticed the headline of this post? Two of our HighCalling bloggers, Paul Soupiset and Thomas Turner, are helping launch GENERATE magazine. It will be dedicated to the art, lives, and hope of Kingdom living. A third HighCalling blogger, Dan King the BibleDude, may have an article in the first issue as well. I submitted a couple of things and helped them with editing a bit.
Paul's design is always fascinating, so the magazine is sure to be visually appealling. Tim Snyder is a fun guy even if I did cover him with a speech bubble and tell him to be quiet in a YouTube video. And Makeesha Fisher has been great to work with.
Mostly, though, I just admire their pluck and thought they deserved a mention. Here is some info from their website:
GENERATE exists as a forum to retell the stories of the grassroots communities and individuals who are finding emerging and alternative means to follow God in the Way of Jesus. We hope to create an artifact of this historical conversation. These stories will be transmitted through narrative, works of visual art, documented performances, verse, fiction, non-fiction, essays, and interviews.
We are a grassroots-organized, independent publication. Everyone who works on GENERATE is a volunteer and we are functioning on a cash-only basis. In many ways, GENERATE is an organic business - as such it will experience the birth > growth > and eventual death cycle of all living things. We only seek to be good stewards of this project for as long as it can serve the Conversation.
