Entertainer Bruce Springsteen’s music has always dignified the ordinary circumstances of life. He told The New York Times, “I felt that I saw a nobility in people. Not the kind you read in the storybooks, but the kind where people go to work every day, they come home every day, and dinner’s on the table every day. There’s people doing this in little ways every day all the time. These are the people that I want to write about. That’s what moves me. That’s what makes me want to sing my song.”

Bruce Springsteen captures for me the value of the things we do every day.

This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. The nobility of going about our ordinary routines with dignity and grace is a big part of the high calling of our daily work.

For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people."

Thanks for the encouragement. I was a missionary for 25 years and had to go to work because of lack of support. I'm not going to say it has been easy, it's a tough world 'out there'. Yet, my vision has been renewed and I have grown so much in the work place and met so many people that would never have any contact with Christians otherwise. My 'disappointment' of not being able to be a 'missionary' has been a wonderful surprise from the Lord. I'm now involved in local politics and invited to be on the board of a sport association (all this from non-believers who know me as a believer and want me to be part of what they do) and on top of all that now I can afford to do things I was never able to do when I had minimum financial support. I contributed to bringing growth and encouragement and faith to the body of Christ for many years but I feel more of a missionary than ever now!

Even Paul had an occupation .. Acts 18:3, 20:33.35.....

I work at part-time/seasonal job and it has been a help to me ... it confirms that I am on the right track as well and it is enriching my skills to move forward.   I do hope that I am being a  help to  others  in leading them to think positive and looking up.
