Good to Grateful
Ask anyone in the division about John, and you’ll hear: “He’s the man who says ‘thank you.’ ”
Early in his career, John made two commitments. First, to be good at his work. Second, to stay grateful. After every project or task, John thanked his assistant. For every order he received, he thanked the customer. Every coworker who helped heard from John. And it’s no surprise that John’s superiors showed their gratitude right up the company ladder.
This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. No one succeeds alone; the wise person knows that. Wiser still is the man or woman who thanks the people causing the success. You’ve heard of “good to great”? Consider “good to grateful” . . . in the high calling of our daily work.
