God's Perspective on Your Work

Lisa did not enjoy her work. She should—it involved many of the things she liked to do. But just…no joy. Meanwhile, jobs were scarce, and she knew she should be grateful for twice-monthly paychecks.

Meanwhile, one more thing: Lisa began to find time every morning to pray. Nothing big, just space to read the Bible—to remind herself of "more than here, more than now"—and a few moments for God’s perspective to fill her view.

This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. Lisa couldn’t say exactly why her workdays improved, but I believe I know: Psalm 16:11 says, "in your presence is fullness of joy"…in the high calling of our daily work.

You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand. Ps. 16:11
