A Privilege to Play

Mike Singletary spent a lifetime in football. And he succeeded at every level: two-time college All-American—and a Super Bowl-winning Hall of Fame linebacker. Today, he coaches the San Francisco Forty-Niners.

Ask Mike what he loves about football, and you get a surprising answer. Surprising and profound. He says, "My favorite part of the game is the opportunity to play." That attitude shows in the respect he also demands from his players for the game.

This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. Gratitude for the opportunity to play: Coach Singletary has something there. Thank God for every day you go in. Thank God for every opportunity to rise . . . to the high calling of our daily work.

This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.
