The seeds were planted years ago By faithful Christians in our town To break the chains of satans hold That bound the people, held them down Revival trickles into view The tide is turning in our land Washes clean the devils spoil Brings about a new command. Where are we in all of this What's our part to bring the change Will we put our Saviour first Comfy lives to rearrange We're the ones He wants to use Reaching people going to hell Can we be the ones who shine Releasing captives, time will tell.Read more +

When God Meets You in the Place You're Afraid Of

I never wanted to be a stay-at-home mom. Ever. Not because it’s hard, not because it’s a huge sacrifice, not because it’s all guts and no glory, not because I don’t like being a wife and mom, but because I was afraid—of silence, of myself, of not mattering, of losing my identity in the laundry and cleaning, of not using my education, of causing financial hardship for my family, of failure. But almost two years ago I was pushed into it—that space, those feelings—when I got fired from my job. I wondered where God was and why He let it...Read more +

Your smile could brighten any room It beams across your face And anybody meeting you Would think you've found your place Among the few who have it all Refusing to give way To all the doom and gloom about In Jesus, you must lay. But once you're out of public gaze Your perma grin goes out Fear and bitterness return You're full of pain and doubt Only Christ can set you free From all you have to bear Let them see your human side That you say isn't there.Read more +

Lucky Number 23

Wide-eyed and kinky-headed, they’re up at 7:50 a.m. anticipating the blessed occasion. Two weeks of arduous labor have led to this moment, and with giggles of expectation they quickly dress, make beds, and brush teeth. Today is the day—allowance day. Having carefully decided what to buy a month in advance, the girls are hyper and relentless in their twin, surround-sound quizzing. “Are you ready yet? Can we go now? When will you be done?” With the fervor of a slug that’s just been doused with salt, I go through my morning routine squeezing the life out every second like it’s...Read more +

Depression: You Really are in Charge

Depression wants you to feel powerless, hopeless, helpless, adrift. It wants you to sense that you are out of control, that the problems in your life are insurmountable, that you are left to ride out the tumultuous storms alone. “You can’t do it,” it says, “No one understands, no one cares, no one else has these problems. There’s nothing you can do. You’ll never feel better, your life will always be this way, so just quit now—it will be easier. You’re the victim. You have no power. Just go back to bed and stay there.” But remember, Depression lies. It...Read more +

We all need a Lord to follow Helps us with our sense of worth Keeps us from the realms of darkness New creation, brand new birth If we keep our eyes upon us We will draw into ourselves Festering in pools of pity It is dangerous for our health. Set your eyes upon The Saviour He who died to set us free Give Him all your fears and problems He will help your eyes to see A way out of your doorless chasm There is nothing He can't do Has the strength to move a mountain Cling on tight, He'll...Read more +

My Cookies are Bigger than God

I still do it. I don’t want to, but I do—not all the time, but often enough for me to realize it’s still an issue. Everything’s a blur. I don’t think or chew or breathe. I just swallow and hope it falls on my hurt, absorbing the anger and sadness and pain. Sometimes I don’t even realize what I’ve done until a whole sleeve is gone, crammed into the God spot it’s never able to fill. But by then it’s too late. The damage is done, the guilt settles in, and now it’s time for penance. Force it out with...Read more +

Faith and Money

It is easy to be faithful when times are good. It is easy to have faith when you are not facing any adversity. Heb 11:1 (NIV) says, “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Faith is put to the test when times are difficult. We begin to doubt God when things around us start to get a little unsettled. Sometimes we put all the faith in ourselves and are not truly relying on God. We should believe in ourselves and have self-confidence all the while understanding and knowing that...Read more +
