60 Seconds to Significance

Meaning and purpose, two elements of a reflective life, those are important aspects for our audience at The High Calling.  Using video as a catalyst we have launched the 60 Seconds to Significance series.

I meet people all the time who are struggling with meaning in their lives. By far the largest concentration of those folks is in their forties and fifties. They’ve come face to face with the promises of conventional wisdom and its definition of success. One of two things usually happens. There is either a façade, which celebrates how happy they are, or they are angry and blaming others for their situation.

There’s another way. It doesn’t accept conventional wisdom. Rather, it looks to the promises of Jesus. Those promises are often contrary to the wisdom of the world. He didn’t come to conform to the world but rather to encourage the world to conform to him. So that people might discover their true purpose.

For most of us confusion sets in when we listen too closely to conventional wisdom and not closely enough to Jesus. At The High Calling we seek to keep the focus on Jesus. Through Mark Roberts’ Daily Reflections, featured articles, and now video these resources help us encourage each other and share the meaning and purpose of life.

We’ve asked people from all walks of life, who are serious about integrating faith in their daily work, to share some thoughts. CEOs, moms, dads, lawyers, writers, media personalities, contractors and others share their insights about faith and work.

We have mentors talking about what it means to mentor people. On the flip side we have several young people talking about the value of being mentored in their work.

Whether the topic is leadership, family, faith, work, or culture there is plenty of wisdom to glean from these short videos.  These meaningful insights encourage and help us to look inward. They have a transformative value as we reflect on the thoughts of other followers of Christ.
