Profile Information
Virginia Stem Owens has written over a dozen books, including a mystery series set in her native Texas. Her memoir of her grandfather's last years won the 1990 Texas Institute of Letters Best Nonfiction Book Award. Her new book, Living Next Door to the Death House, takes readers inside the prison culture of her hometown, Huntsville, Texas, the nation's execution capital. Ms. Owens is on the editorial board of Christianity Today International's Books & Culture and served for seven years as director of The Milton Center for Christians' writing excellence.
