Announcing the Winner of Our Laity Lodge Writer's Retreat Drawing
A few weeks ago, we realized that one of our editors is not going to be able to make it to the Laity Lodge Writer's Retreat this year. And we had an idea. What if we give the extra space away to one of the members of our High Calling Community?
After all, drawing lots worked for the apostles in Acts when they were looking to replace Judas. Our drawing would be much lower stakes, and the editor who can't come is hardly a Judas. There was just a scheduling conflict.
Then, we read about the work of Sreedhari Desai who just published a study showing Teddy Bears Can Make Your Company More Ethical. We figured we needed all the ethical help we could find to keep the drawing as honest as possible. After I tabulated the entries (more than fifty of you!) and added a few folks who came in under the wire yesterday after 5:30, I needed that extra "Teddy Bear Accountability."
I had my zombie poetry kit and my original Tron action figure (which I unethically stole from my son's toy box this morning), but they didn't seem to be enough. Christy Richardson saved the day by suggesting we film the drawing in front of the recently "flocked" Laity Lodge Youth Camp building. Flamingos were not quite as cuddly as teddy bears, but they would have to do.
I put all of your names in a Winne the Pooh mug for an extra dose of ethics.
And the winner is... well, you just have to watch the video. (And forgive my zombie performance during the 3 second delay before I realize we are filming.)
